What is it about?

Psychic anuria is an extremely rare type of anuria with unknown mechanism. It has been scarcely reported so far. We presented our experience with this subject and provided the history, clinical presentation, investigations, and management of this condition. We proposed that the underlying etiology could be psychosocial factors which may trigger renal vasospasm that manifests as anuria. Also, mechanisms of clinical and biochemical compensations, and responses to mental distraction as psychological intervention were proposed based on the finding of this cases series. Dramatic responses were found in most of the cases which may support the pyschogenic nature of the condition.
