This paper summarizes the knowledge of the role of serum tumor markers Ca 19-9, CEA and CA 72-2 in gastric cancer as a screening, prognostic and monitoring tools.

Why is it important?

Our work show that CA 19-9, CEA, and CA 72-4 are not suitable tumor markers for screening and early diagnosis in gastric cancer, but they are useful as prognostic and monitoring tools in gastric cancer.

Perspectives

It was very satisfying for me to write and publish this article with such a prominent gastroenterologist and endoscopist like my co-author Dr. Peter Draganov.
