What is it about?
Chronic hand eczema is one of the most recalcitrant dermatologic diseases which significantly impact on the patients’ quality of life. This randomized control trial evaluates the efficacy and side effects of the novel combination therapy of monochromatic 308-nm excimer light and topical vitamin D in comparison with topical vitamin D alone.

Why is it important?
Generally, standard medical treatment of chronic hand eczema is topical corticosteroids which can cause several cutaneous and systemic side effects. The 308-nm excimer light shows synergistic effects with topical calcipotriol. The outcomes are effective with no serious adverse reactions. Therefore, this combination may be an alternative treatment option for chronic hand eczema.
