What is it about?
Nowadays, severe obesity is common in children. We examined young men who had developed severe obesity before the onset of puberty. Men with lower testosterone concentrations had higher BMI, but smaller bone area.

Why is it important?
Obesity is an increasing problem in children and it is important to understand how obesity affects puberty and testicular function.
Perspectives
It was surprising, how difficult and complex is the problem of obesity. Reviewers of Hormone Research in Paediatrics gave incredible support to me and understood the importance of the topic. We need urgently follow-up studies on boys with severe obesity.
