What is it about?

Toluene is a VOC, its chemical upgrading using CO2 as a mild oxidizing agent can lead to the formation of benzyl alcohol and benzaldehyde which are basic products for organic synthesis and the chemical industry.

Why is it important?

The originality of this work concerns the use of heteropolyanionic catalysts for the functionalization of toluene in oxygenated products at low temperature and the use of CO2 as oxygen source.

Perspectives

he writing of this article was a great pleasure because it has co-authors with whom I work for a long time. This article has also allowed groups of researchers to get in touch with me and, ultimately, to become more involved in understanding the insertion of oxygen into the C-H bond of hydrocarbons.
