What is it about?
This is a case report about a 17-year-old female who presented with a large mass in the midline mass. The mass was found to be papillary thyroid cancer in an unusual site. Due to the high occurrence of this type of cancer coinciding in both an unusual place and the native thyroid gland, her thyroid gland was removed. However, her actual thyroid gland was found to be devoid of cancer completely.

Why is it important?
This article aims to show surgeons and physicians that thyroid cancer in certain parts of the body is not always associated with thyroid cancer in the native gland itself.
