What is it about?

The study examined Odonata assemblages distribution pattern and the predictive factors that accountedf or this in the lotic and lentic water systems within the Ankasa Conservation Area (Ghana)

Why is it important?

Freshwater resources are the major sources of livelihood to Afrotropical rural and peri-urban folks. Thus, detecting the water quality of these fragile ecosystems and and subsequently safeguard them through sound conservation measures, will firstly require our ability to use a suit of biological indicators such as odonates, that are sensitive to detecting slight degradation of these aquatic systems.

Perspectives

I recommend this paper to managers of freshwater systems and policy makers, since the findings contribute to knowledge in the area of environmental drivers impacting on freshwater systems in Africa and the conservation measures to consider for implementation.
