What is it about?
Minimally invasive surgery, using various techniques, such as laparoscopy, endoscopy and robotic, to operate with less damage to the body than with open surgery, associated with less pain, a shorter hospital stay and fewer complications. Cancer cells have different metabolic pathways compared with normal cells. Cancer cells have different metabolic pathways compared with normal cells. Recently, it has reported premalignancy status already have happened metabolic changes. We are forcusing the mechanism of abnormal accumulations of free fatty acid in cancer cells, and applications for cancer treatment, diagnosis, and prevention.

Why is it important?
Minimally invasive surgery has expanded widely in many surgical specialties, because of technology development, such as energy device and scope. Still it seems to be much progress of surgical techniques. Though many anticancer drugs have been prolong patients life in just the past decade, benefit for treatment can indicative only drugs usage, and some patients were at a complete loss for those side effects. New strategy for cacer is required.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also lead to rare disease groups contacting me and ultimately to a greater involvement in rare disease research.
