What is it about?

CD86 molecule is the molecule which regulates the strength of immune response. Genetic variations within CD86 gene influence its potency , and therefore have impact of outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. We showed that single nucleotide variations within CD86 gene influence overall survival and risk of one of the major complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation - acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD).

Why is it important?

For the first time we showed the importance of genetic variations within CD86 gene on outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Perspectives

It opens the possibility to more personalized approach for treating patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
