What is it about?

Pharmacy professionals, as the most available members of medical team, have an important role in educating patients about the effective and appropriate use of contraceptives. This study aims to assess pharmacy professionals’ dispensing practice, knowledge, and attitude towards emergency contraceptives.

Why is it important?

This study revealed that knowledge, attitude and dispensing practice of emergency contraceptives are very good but there were variations with respect to different factors. Thus additional training and proper counseling technique on emergency contraceptives will improve the service delivery.

Perspectives

I think this article makes what is said to be very relevant with regard to the current problems facing the society such as unintended pregnancy and abortion. Pharmacy professionals are in a sole position in combating this problem as their knowledge and attitude towards EC's will determine their dispensing practice and the counseling service they provide during dispensing.
