Neurite outgrowth in different ECM-derived hydrogels

What is it about?

This study evaluates the growth of Dorsal Root Ganglia (DRG) neurites in three different ECM-derived hydrogels and measures the impact of Adipose Stem Cells (ASCs) on this growth. The influence of the hydrogels on ASCs growth and gene expression is also explored.

Why is it important?

We help to clarify that different hydrogel matrices induce distinct levels of neurite regeneration, therefore a future regenerative medicine approach should take into account the type of matrix being used. Moreover, ASCs potentiate neurite outgrowth in all matrices tested, confirming them as a good candidate for CNS regenerative applications.
