What is it about?

Royal jelly is one of the bee products that can be consumed safely. Glycoproteins contained in royal jelly have the potential to prevent attachment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study proves that royal jelly at a concentration of 25% can inhibit the attachment of P. aeruginosa PAO1 and other clinical isolates to pharyngeal and lung epithelial cells. Royal jelly also inhibits the overproduction of IL-8 and CCL20 caused by exposure to P. aeruginosa in both cells.

Why is it important?

This research provides a scientific basis for the development of royal jelly-based products as safe anti-inflammatory agent.

Perspectives

We were very excited while working on this research because we departed from material that was not toxic and prospected because the material was easily available. Manuscript preparation is quite challenging because of the large amount of data obtained. We hope that the results of this research will be useful and can be continued until the preparation formulation.
