Why is it important?

There has been few reports assessing the statistical relations objectively between marker of macroangiopathy and indices of polyneuropathy, such as nerve conduction study, in type 2 diabetes. Nerve conduction study is a marker of large fibre neuropathy. The relations between vascular markers and parameters of diabetic small fibre neuropathy are to be examined in the future.

Perspectives

I hope this article could possibly shed some light on the pathophysiology of diabetic polyneuropathy which has been still not so clear-cut for its progression and severity grading as the other complications of diabetes mellitus.
