What is it about?

This review is a collection of data on 9 species of selected Amazonian plants that show mainly antioxidant properties, their effects are summarized in vitro and in vivo.

Why is it important?

Many fruits of the Amazon have a large number of compounds with beneficial effects on health, however, although they are well known locally, not many people know the potential benefits of their consumption.


399/5000 Although there are numerous reports about the potential beneficial effect on the health of some Amazonian fruits, their consumption is often limited to local consumption and without knowledge of the best way to take advantage of these beneficial effects, so we hope this review is important for define trends in the development of functional foods considering the enormous potential for human health of these fruits.
