What is it about?

Pure amorphous silica was successfully extracted at a 99.1% yield from sugarcane waste ash using alkaline extraction followed by acid precipitation .The condition for biosilica production was optimized.

The experimental data suggest that the sugarcane waste ash could be converted into a value-added product . The mesoporous structure of silica makes it a potential catalytic (or catalyst support) or adsorbent material.

The article shows that it is possible for people to manage a waste produced on a large scale
