What is it about?

This paper investigates the efficacy of various sterilization methods and their effect on the corrosion response of carbon steel.

Why is it important?

The sterilization step is typically overlooked in microbially induced corrosion research. This work shows that, while all sterilization methods eliminated living microorganisms from the surface, they had a net effect on corrosion.

Perspectives

This work presents a systematic methodology to evaluate both the efficacy of sterilization methods and their effect on corrosion response.
