How do brain changes in aging influence emotion? This paper critiques previous claims linking specific age-related behavior changes to certain brain regions.

Why is it important?

Emotional processes are relatively well maintained in healthy aging, compared with cognitive declines. Understanding how both emotion and cognition are affected by age-related brain changes is important.

Perspectives

This is my perspective on how age differences in emotional behaviors such as risk taking, emotion recognition and empathy can and cannot be linked with age-related change in specific brain regions.
