What is it about?
This article discusses how talking avatars of AI-generated musicians, also known as embodied conversational agents, can be created to help music business students practise their A&R interviewing skills before interviewing real musicians. Ama is an AI-generated musician created for this purpose. The article describes how a short text description of Ama was brought to life.

Why is it important?
Students learning about the Artists & Repertoire (A&R) process need to practice interviewing musicians to understand them before making decisions about their music careers. These conversations can be difficult to practice, even when using traditional roleplay exercises in the classroom. AI-generated musicians can give students a safe way to ask questions, listen carefully, and build their A&R skills before working with real people.
Perspectives
Conversational avatars can provide a great way to transform educational resources from text to live avatars that students can communicate with.
