What is it about?

Research papers need to meet several quality standards before they are ready for publication. References must be accurate, conference submission rules must be followed, and important methodological details must be reported. Checking these requirements manually can be time-consuming, and some problems may go unnoticed. ATIBA is a tool designed to help researchers check the integrity and quality of their papers before submission. It brings together five capabilities: reference verification, conference requirement checking, assessment against empirical research standards, AI-assisted paper review, and suggestions for relevant references. A key feature of ATIBA is its emphasis on verifiable evidence. Rather than relying entirely on AI-generated judgments, it connects its assessments to sources such as bibliographic records, conference guidelines, and the manuscript itself. This helps researchers understand why a potential issue has been flagged and verify the evidence behind the feedback.

Why is it important?

As AI tools become increasingly integrated into academic workflows, researchers need ways to assess the quality and reliability of their work without blindly trusting automated feedback. ATIBA addresses this challenge by combining multiple paper-quality checks in one tool while emphasizing evidence that researchers can independently verify.

Perspectives

I have experienced firsthand how preparing a research paper involves much more than conducting the research itself. Verifying references, checking submission requirements, and ensuring that a manuscript adequately reports its methodology all require time and attention. This experience motivated me to contribute to ATIBA, a project that aims to make these tasks more systematic and accessible. One aspect I find particularly important is the emphasis on evidence-grounded AI: automated tools should not simply produce convincing-sounding feedback, but should provide verifiable reasons for their assessments.
