What is it about?
This publication presents seven grand research challenges for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in Brazil for 2025–2035. Developed through a collaborative process involving 63 researchers from 31 institutions, the initiative asks what HCI research should focus on over the next decade, taking into account Brazil’s social, cultural, technological, and economic realities. The seven challenges address new theoretical and methodological approaches, ethics and responsibility, plurality and decoloniality, sociocultural impacts, human-data interaction, the implications of artificial intelligence, and interaction with emerging technologies. Together, they encourage HCI researchers to look beyond technological innovation and consider how interactive technologies affect people, society, culture, and the environment.

Why is it important?
This publication is important because it proposes a shared research agenda for Human-Computer Interaction in Brazil for the next decade. Rather than simply responding to new technologies as they emerge, it asks the HCI community to collectively decide which questions deserve attention and what kind of technological future it wants to help build.
Perspectives
The text is ultimately a call for dialogue, collaboration, and action, inviting the HCI community, particularly in the Global South, to build a more inclusive, context-sensitive, and socially responsible research agenda for the coming decade.
