What is it about?
This review paper digs deeper into what we already know about current DLT frameworks and how they fit into the IoT landscape. This paper gives a thorough review of these new technologies and gives examples of how they can be used to help build strong DLT-IoT systems.

Why is it important?
Current research acknowledges DLT's promise in IoT, especially with blockchain, but there is little documentation on the specific lightweight distributed ledger, such as Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based, that are necessary for IoT settings and the problems that come with integrating them.
Perspectives
This article is critical for industry readers and researchers to understand the landscape of lightweight distributed ledger technology and how they can be integrated into IoT contexts. We analysed 27 DLTs and identified six as the most promising. We also look at DLTs for large-scale use cases including health-IoT, e-commerce, and automobile production.
