Redefining the Software Engineering Profession for AI

What is it about?

Without deliberate changes to Early-In-Career (EIC) training, the talent pipeline of the software engineering profession faces collapse. This paper explains how the boost that AI gives senior engineers will lead to that outcome and proposes that software engineering move to an apprenticeship-type model to give EICs the experience and skills required to become senior engineers.
