What is it about?
This paper propose MetaWild, a new dataset that helps computers recognize individual wild animals from camera-trap photos. Unlike previous datasets that use only pictures, MetaWild also includes environmental information such as temperature, time of day, and animal orientation. These details help AI models better understand animal behavior and improve identification accuracy. The dataset can support wildlife researchers and conservationists by enabling more accurate, non-invasive tracking of species.
