What is it about?
People often struggle to find the correct laws online because laws are written in complicated, formal language, while users ask questions informally. We created a method and dataset that translate everyday legal questions into more formal language and simplify legal texts, helping search engines better match user queries to the right laws. This significantly improves the accuracy of online legal searches.

Why is it important?
Finding accurate legal information online is difficult due to differences between the language used by the general public and formal legal language. Our approach bridges this language gap, enabling more effective and precise retrieval of laws. This helps people easily understand and access legal information, improving the quality of online legal assistance and making legal AI tools more reliable and trustworthy.
Perspectives
This research was particularly meaningful because it addresses a real-life issue: helping ordinary people access and understand complex legal information. By simplifying legal searches, we aim to empower users with clearer guidance and enhance the practical use of legal AI technologies in daily life.
