What is it about?
We present an approach to interacting with collaborative robots (cobots) by using an AI system that communicates through voice, text, or touch. The AI simplifies error-handling by guiding users through tasks like calibration and fixing configuration issues. By improving & guiding these processes, the system reduces task completion time, enhances efficiency, and improves error resolution accuracy. Additionally, it decreases the level of perceived difficulty, allowing users, including those with little technical experience, to work more efficiently with robots and benefit from an improved user experience.

Why is it important?
Our research addresses a pressing need in the growing field of robotics: making robot interaction more user-friendly for everyone, not just experts. As the use of collaborative robots expands across various industries, our AI-powered support system introduced capabilities for simplifying error-handling and troubleshooting. This innovation is timely, as industries increasingly rely on automation, yet many users still face challenges with traditional robotic systems and often experience a lack of insight into these complex technologies. By reducing task completion times and enhancing accuracy, our system not only minimizes downtime and boosts productivity but also democratizes access to robotic technology, making it easier for beginners to engage with these advanced tools. This work is particularly significant as it contributes to the ongoing evolution of human-robot collaboration, leading to more intuitive and efficient interactions with robotic systems.
Perspectives
Conducting this research and writing this paper has been an exciting journey, as it reflects my passion for making technology accessible to everyone. Technologies like conversational AI will not only transform robotics but also revolutionize entire industries and our everyday lives. However, this potential can only be fully realized if people are confident in their ability to utilize these advanced systems. Developing a solution that empowers users - regardless of their technical background - to interact with robots naturally is incredibly rewarding.
