We identified key patterns in how developers use Artificial Intelligence(AI) tools like large language models (LLMS) to help with coding, design, and even non-programming tasks. We analyze the type of questions developers ask generative AI and its role alongside software developers.

Why is it important?

This work reveals the growing role of AI in increasing developer productivity and creativity, marking a shift toward AI-assisted coding.

We believe AI is revolutionizing the way we build software systems exemplifying the need to understand how developers are using AI alongside their work. This study aids in our understanding of the diverse application of AI tools and offers insight into the implications of AI capabilities within the software development landscape. We believe as AI becomes more widely adopted and developer mentalities change, the relationship between software development and AI will become more entwined.
