What is it about?
Large language models (LLMs) are becoming more widely used in many everyday tasks, as well as education, training, and entertainment. In this paper, we would like to explore how different ways to interact with LLM-driven non-playable characters in VR games influence the presence and immersion of users. We test two versions one using plain dialog trees and another using speech recognition.

Why is it important?
Understanding how to interact with LLMs and how that would help people immerse themselves in a virtual environment would open new ways to build interactive experiences.
Perspectives
Exploring the ways that large language model NPCs interact with users and how users feel connected to the NPC and slowly but surely break from their initial confusion to ask questions and be more inquisitive was very interesting to observe
