What is it about?

NDN is a new network architecture that has benefits of keeping the states in the routers. For a highly dynamic LEO satellite network, NDN has been anticipated to perform well under such scenario. This poster identifies specific advantages of running NDN on LEO and points out issues that needs to be addressed.

Why is it important?

This work pilots the deeper studies on LEO satellite network routing with NDN. NDN has a flexible, stateful routing plane that potentially optimizes the overall performance of the inter-satellite links.

Perspectives

Running NDN on LEO proves a significant benefit due to independence of end-to-end connections. As pointed in the paper, a custom forwarding strategy is needed to mitigate the issues caused by satellite handovers.
