What is it about?
Design templates in tools like Canva and Adobe Express can be an easy way for non-designers to quickly create beautiful posters, fliers, and so on. But does working from a template limit a person’s creativity? What about starting from multiple templates? When and how should AI-based automation come in the process? We had 10 people use these tools to create a poster, and interviewed them afterwards to see, how people go about designing with templates, whether it matters how many templates they start from, and whether they face any frustrations in the process. The results help us develop recommendations for future, better template-based tools.
