What is it about?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now everywhere we look, embedded in a range of easily accessible tools, such as the image generator DALL-E. The future possibilities for this technology are uncertain. Our pilot project, Artistic Process Futures and AI, looks at how AI technology will impact the work of artists. In this paper, we show how we created an enticing method for artists to share their ideas on the future of AI in their work. Our method typically results in the creation of visual prototype concepts and manifestos. We discuss the results from our first workshops in this paper.

Why is it important?
The work of artists will be radically changed by developments in AI. It's important that we think about what future we would like to see in this area, so that we can shape it together starting now.
Perspectives
As a curator and artist, I find the issues around AI and the artistic process very compelling. There are many issues around artistic integrity and autonomy that come up when examining this technology. It's crucial to discuss these issues collectively, and as part of the wider societal debate around AI technologies.
