What is it about?
To stay competitive organizations are interested in ways to lower costs while increasing productivity and shortening time-to-market. Adopting agile software development practices for IoT projects can provide this competitive advantage. Our study provides insights on how agile best practices can be used successfully in IoT development. The research focuses on identifying the critical attributes of agile teams to be successful in IoT projects.

Why is it important?
We believe this is very timely research as worldwide spending on IoT applications was forecasted to surpass $1 trillion in 2022. Agile teams within IoT development may require different skills, competencies and agile approaches than teams that focus solely on hardware or software. Without best practices that provide IoT development teams with guidance on how to leverage Agile Software Development, they may not be as successful as they could be.
Perspectives
Focusing on needed skills and agile approaches of IoT development teams was very interesting and insightful. When it comes to IoT projects, the focus is very often on technical topics rather than people and organizational aspects. With this research, we shifted the point of view.
