What is it about?

The mechanisms of against hyperlipidemia of Apium graveolens L. root extract (AGRE) are largely unclea. The effects of AGRE and its major constituents were investigated on hepatic steatosis in L02 and HepG2 cells. The results show that they have promising regulation effect of FFA metabolism through AMPK/SREBP-1c signaling.

Why is it important?

Apium graveolens L. is a Chinese medicinal plant, its extract exhibits strong antihypertensive, liver protection and lipid-lowering activities. We investigated its potential lipid-lowering mechanism, which will provide evidence for its prevention and treatment of lipid metabolism disorders.

Perspectives

We have been studying Apium graveolens L. roots for several years. The results of this article provide evidence for its prevention and treatment of lipid metabolism disorders, which also provides a research basis for subsequent development of application studies.
