What is it about?

There are many issues regarding social injustice within the fashion industry such as poor working conditions and unacceptable wages. An experiment was made through an interactive vending machine to change perspectives on cheap clothing by exposing these conditions to the participants. The goal was to get people to change their minds on purchasing a one euro T-shirt manufactured by cheap labour workers.

Why is it important?

As consumers, we chose the type of fashion industry we support by purchasing clothing from the manufacturers. This means that if we allow unethical issues to go unnoticed, we are essentially condemning cheap labour workers, and supporting a cause which we didn't even imagine we would. Therefore, the significance of this experiment is to make the issue known, and make us all be more aware of the choices we make in our daily shopping.

Perspectives

Writing this article and being a part of this experiment was truly eye opening. It was amazing to see how people are unaware of the current state of the industry, however once they meet reality, they strongly agree that change needs to happen. It was really inspiring and shows that there is a future with more sustainable and quality clothing at a fair price as long as we strive to obtain it by contributing to the cause.
