What is it about?
This research aims to present the approach for improving the production process of PVC tape for reducing the proportion of waste in the tape core slide defect that is higher than the control standard at 2 mm by applying the principles and concepts of Six Sigma under 5 systematic steps (DMAIC).

Why is it important?
This research is necessary to adjust the policy for the business to be able to operate continuously, focusing on reducing costs related to production costs which improves the quality. It is one of the methods to reduce the rate of product wastage due to the waste generated. Therefore, the cost of production of good products has to be increased. Including the cost of disposal or recycling of some products as well. Therefore, this research recognizes the importance of process improvements to reduce waste by the Six Sigma approach as a way to improve other manufacturing processes in the industry.
Perspectives
We hope this research can be used as a guideline for the application of Six Sigma to improve other industrial processes. Especially in the production of PVC tapes that have problems with the tape core bulging (Telescope). This research will help to be a guideline to improve the problem that arises. In addition, I hope that this research can help motivate the reader's approach to research work.

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations. This paper is also a showcase of the successful implementation of the Six Sigma approach in the industry. Besides, I hope to see many more practical contributions appear in this knowledge domain in the future.
