What is it about?

This paper develops a new approach (called MetaSight) that localizes blocked objects by modulating non-line-of-sight (NLOS) signals via metasurfaces. Extensive experiments show that MetaSight can localize a blocked object with an average accuracy of 15 cm.

Why is it important?

MetaSight can accurately localize blocked objects. It does not need any reference tags or rely on regularity of reflectors. It significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art schemes.

Perspectives

MetaSight achieves high localization accuracy of blocked objects by eliminating the impact of NLOS signals from the environment. The entire system is simple for easy operation and maintenance, so it can be easily deployed in various application scenarios.
