What is it about?
GT launched a centralized OSG support project named Buzzard. The cluster has a unique multi-tenant architecture that supports multiple tasks on a single CPU/GPU pool. Other institutes with similar needs can adopt the approach.

Why is it important?
This centralized OSG service for GT researchers provides the necessary resource for HTC (High Throughput Computing) simulations, as more than 70% of jobs on the PACE cluster use one or two cores. The multi-tenant design allows Buzzard to support multiple VOs (Virtual Organizations) using a single mixed pool of CPU and GPU nodes with different priorities. And the design makes it easy to add a new resource to the pool as well as the addition of new VOs.
Perspectives
This paper is the result of a successful NSF CC* proposal. And it is a great success to build up a cluster and delivery to the researchers and meet their needs.
