What is it about?

The Internet of Drones (IoD) is an emerging network paradigm. Location Privacy is an important security requirement in this field, but it is few explored until now. We propose a novel location privacy protection mechanism, called MixDrones, that protects the drone location through the airways changing as well as pseudonymization. Hence, we advance the state of the art of location privacy protection mechanisms for IoD.

Why is it important?

Sensitive information can be exchanged in IoD environments, such as personal identification and Spatio-temporal location. Drones generally carry these pieces of information during the flight. It is mandatory to protect and give a proper level of privacy to their location in various services. Our proposal, named MixDrones, can provide a better location privacy protection than the traditional mechanism for grounded networks, anonymizing a large number of drones and being resilient when facing de-anonymization attacks.
