What is it about?

A framework that emphasizes civic engagement and participatory design processes through the familiar and intuitive use of daily technological interactions (similar to social media usage). This framework takes precedent in the following theories and paradigms: Systems Thinking, Cybernetics, Conversation Theory, Meta-Design, Uses and Gratifications theory.

Why is it important?

This framework encourages collaborations between top-down and bottom-up stakeholders in the learning, coordination, and collaboration processes of civic engagement. It argues how ubiquitous and situated technologies can contribute to participatory design processes.

Perspectives

How can our personal mobile device serve as an architecture tool to increase civic engagement? How to increase and enhance civic engagement for local communities, especially the ones who do not formally participate in traditional and existing urban planning and design processes?
