What is it about?

How stress levels can affect hospital workers' cybersecurity practices such as clicking email from an unknown sender, password generation, etc.? This study examines the importance of paying attention to the hospital staffs' stress level as one strategy to reduce riskier cybersecurity practices that can lead to data breaches.

Why is it important?

Most of the data breaches involved a human element with the frequent patterns used are social engineering. Therefore, many studies focus on making a better understanding of human behavior in cybersecurity and the factors that affect cybersecurity practices. However, there are only a few studies that focus on the link between stress level and cybersecurity practices. In this study, we examined the link between stress levels and cybersecurity practices among hospital employees in Indonesia.

Perspectives

I hope this study makes hospital management give concern on stress prevention among their workers in order to reduce risky cybersecurity practices. Our findings highlight the need of preventing stress to ensure appropriate cybersecurity practices and avoid negative outcomes for the hospital such as data breaches.
