What is it about?

This study focused on evaluating pavement conditions using simple and available monitoring equipment, including a smartphone application and bicycle as a test vehicle to measure pavement vibration along a road segment. Besides, a classification of pavement condition was applied to determine the level and severity of pavement deteriorations.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that this method can detect degradation and cracks in asphalt pavement with reasonable accuracy. Also, it is a cost-effective pavement monitoring technique, simple, and available.

Perspectives

This research can help many researchers and poor governments monitor the pavement condition technique using the straightforward and cheap technique without a need for purchasing advanced equipment. The results were clear, appropriated and reflected the actual health status of the pavement.
