What is it about?

This paper models the attacker as a resource-limited entity, that wishes to execute an isolation attack on the network. We search for a game-theoretic strategy that will increase the cost of the attack. We give examples to show that the price is indeed high enough on today's Bitcoin network.

Why is it important?

Isolation attacks will isolate nodes from the network, thus cause a severe split in the network. As an example, in Bitcoin, it can cause to double-spend attack, 50% attack, and more.
