What is it about?

this research project designed and developed a mobile remote controlled electrical geyser Application (App). Using the developed App, household owners are able to remotely switch their geysers on and off through their mobile phones.

Why is it important?

Institutions and scholars have recommended that geysers be switched off when households’ members or owners are travelling on holiday or going on an extended trip or even during peak electricity consumption hours. As beneficial as the switching off of geysers are, sometimes household members forget to switch off geysers when travelling for holidays, as well as during peak consumption periods Though geyser timer could help minimise the above challenge, their cost and maintainability, make it difficult for most household owners to acquire them.

Perspectives

To overcome the issue of forgetfulness in manually switching a geyser on and off, an existing technology to assist, is the geyser timer. However the geyser timer cost and the maintenance in the event that it get out of order, makes a case for the proposal to App (considering that most household members have mobile phones) that switches geysers on and off.
