What is it about?

How can we enrich shared interactions with people living with dementia through technologies? This paper evaluates an app in four residential care centres to explore the dynamics of shared interaction between a resident living with dementia and a visitor when using a single device.

Why is it important?

We use both quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand the shared experience using the same device. We provide a rich account of the challenges and limitations of our approach when working with people living with dementia.

Perspectives

This article opens up a range of questions about a very interesting and challenging topic. It highlights the importance of the human relationship between resident and visitor, and the influence that the relationship can have on a shared experience with technology.
