What is it about?
Long-term single player video games require learning complex rules and gameplay details that players forget after time away from playing them. We explore the experience of returning to four games of this type and discover a pivot point where the player regains the previous sense of mastery.

Why is it important?
The discovery of a games pivot point can help game designers explore design strategies to aid players in returning to their games and increase the game’s longevity.
Perspectives
As a contributor, the discovery of the Pivot Point resonated for our entire team. The application of this as a design goal to future projects and the exploration of modding existing games to support a Pivot Point enhancing level introduced a novel design goal for a level design strategy.
