Why is it important?
Enormous number of video recordings are being created and shared on the Internet all over the day. It requires more space to store the video on storage devices and more bandwidth to transmit the video from one device to another when compared to images and text. So, a summary of a video comes handy in a situation when we want to just glance at the content of the video quickly. Videos are usually analyzed by humans which demands immense manpower. Thus, automatic video summarization is an important and growing research area. Artificial Intelligence enabled software can do this job of summarizing lengthy videos for us. This article discusses various techniques used to summarize the videos.
