What is it about?

Designing cross-platform mobile apps with accessibility in mind is challenging, as it adds another layer of concerns to the already complex endeavor that is software development for multiple platforms. For this reason, most developers will only think about it near the end of development, which is not ideal. In this work, we set out to tackle cross-platform mobile accessibility by identifying distinctive challenges, requirements, and solution techniques for mobile apps in contrast to established web development.

Why is it important?

Our framework enables app developers to create accessible apps for users with low-vision without having to be trained in this area or paying special attention to this topic. By just using the framework accessibility will automatically be taken into account.

Perspectives

By the collaboration of experts in accessibility and model-driven software development synergies could be enabled.
