What is it about?
PT4Cloud is a non-parametric statistics-based performance testing methodology for cloud applications. It can tell the users how many test runs are required to obtain accurate performance results at a high confidence level. The performance results acquired by PT4Cloud are in the form of performance distributions, so that the users can have an overall impression of the performance of their applications.

Why is it important?
Knowing the performance of the cloud applications helps the users to choose the optimal cloud resource configurations for their performance requirements and cost needs. However, due to the multi-tenancy and the black-box nature of cloud services, it's extremely hard to obtain the performance of cloud applications. In short, cloud application performance is a fundamental requirement for efficient and effective cloud practice. However, how to accurately obtain this performance is still an open research question.
Perspectives
The main research question of this research is about “how can we reliably know if the data from performance tests are accurate enough so that we can stop the test?".
