What is it about?
Natural Language Processing is used both in the field of Multimedia and the field of Robotics (with different requirements). The paper organizes existing work and offers a methodology for integrating Natural Language with Perception and Action.

Why is it important?
Usually algorithms designed for multimedia applications do not work in robotics applications and vice versa. We discuss these issues and point to a unified theory.
Perspectives
Recent efforts on embodied cognition show that the problem of language and robotics will be with us for a long time. Recent efforts by Amazon (Simbot challenge) show that unless we talk to the robots (and they understand what we want), we can make no real progress. The paper is a foundation for this process.
