What is it about?

Satellites are exposed to a growing threat, in particular because of our increasing dependence on them and the development of AI that can be used for bad purposes. our approach is to propose a method for the implementation of most optimal implementation of an intrusion detection system according to the characteristics of a satellite. This improvement in cyber security is to protect satellites in operation and is accompanied by a proposal to represent the list of security rules using a graph structure, to improve visibility and have the possibility of querying them

Why is it important?

The security of satellites has become critical in recent years due to their important role in modern society. We are increasingly dependent on them for communication, navigation, and even military strategy. The threat against them is growing, particularly with technological advances and the rapid development of artificial intelligence, which can be used for bad purposes. This has been seen in conflicts between nations in recent years, but satellites have become prime targets, whether for stealing important information or causing disruption. There are also numerous challenges, including limited computing resources, evolving cyber threats, and the isolated nature of satellites, which hinder the development of effective security solutions. That's why it's important to develop a good method for implementing cyber security effectively and to tailor it to the specific needs of a satellite.

Perspectives

This paper was presented at the 39th ASE in 2024 in Sacramento and the questions and reactions from the audience confirmed the importance of satellite safety. There is still too much room for development in this area, which is why it is important to talk about it and look for solutions.
