What is it about?

In our research, we developed a new method to evaluate the performance of products made in smart factories. Smart factories create vast amounts of data, and it's challenging to analyze all of this information effectively. To address this, we used a type of fuzzy logic (a way to handle uncertainty) to combine different pieces of data into a single, more manageable format. We then applied this method to evaluate products, considering both objective data (like measurements) and subjective opinions (like expert judgments). Our approach was tested on evaluating aircraft engines, showing it can help manufacturers better understand product performance, even when the data is complex or uncertain.

Why is it important?

Our work stands out due to its innovative approach to addressing the challenges posed by the massive data generated in smart factories. Traditional methods of product performance evaluation often struggle with efficiently processing large and complex datasets, leading to less effective decision-making. What makes our approach unique is the use of interval spherical fuzzy sets, which allows us to handle uncertainty and imprecision in data more effectively than existing methods. By integrating both objective measurements and subjective expert opinions into a comprehensive evaluation framework, we can provide a more accurate and nuanced assessment of product performance. This research is particularly timely given the rapid advancement and adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, where the ability to process and analyze large volumes of data is critical. As more industries move towards smart manufacturing, our method offers a valuable tool for ensuring that products meet the high standards required in today’s competitive market. By improving the accuracy and reliability of performance evaluations, our work could significantly impact how manufacturers optimize their processes and make informed decisions, ultimately leading to better products and more efficient production lines.
